Satellite 3 at Redemption 11

Most of the Celestial Bureaucracy blessed Redemption 11 with their illustrious presence. In addition to running our convention table we were also highly visible at the convention. Christine ran the Zocalo, with Michael, David and Carolyn keeping various stalls going. We presented the latest edition of our now (in)famous music quiz, Deface the Music and had representatives on various panels. In addition, Christine was designated the Green Drazi leader for the weekend, and led her troops to a stunning victory until both Green and Purple Drazi were outflanked by the new Orange Drazi at the Closing Ceremony who gunned them both down in cold blood (think closing shots from Blake’s 7!). Our thanks to Lesley and her committee for a great convention! Some images from the weekend are shown in the photo album.

Satellite at Novacon 40

Christine and Michael were in Nottingham for Novacon 40. Satellite 2 GoH, Iain M Banks was also Novacon’s guest. Ken McLeod (Satellite 1 GoH) interviewing Iain had to be one of the highlights of the convention. Charlie Stross, GoH for Satellite 3 was also prominent, although even he wanted to get his copy of the new Culture novel Surface Detail signed. We ran a convention table in the dealer’s room, ably assisted by Apocrypha of Honour Fluff (when we could keep him off the eyeballs!) and con mascot Beagle 2, but escaped long enough for the Novacon 40th birthday celebration and, of course, the traditional beer tasting. Good time had by all. Thanks to the Novacon committee for putting on another great convention.
